Lights on Afterschool Poster Contest – Show Us What Afterschool Means to You!

New Britain students are invited to join the 2025 Lights on Afterschool Poster Contest and share what makes their afterschool programs special. Whether it’s learning new skills, making friends, or having fun, we want to see your creativity come to life on the page!

How to Participate:

Create an original poster, sized 11x14, that represents your afterschool experience.

Use any materials you like: markers, paints, crayons—anything that brings your vision to life.

Prizes:

$25 gift cards for first, second, and third place winners.

Every participant will be entered into a raffle for a $50 gift card.

The New Britain after-school program represented by the most high-quality submissions will receive a $500 microgrant to support their activities!

Deadline: All entries must be submitted by October 23, 2025.

Rules and Submission Instructions

Posters must be original artwork created by the student. No copied or traced images from the internet, books, or other artists.

Be sure to submit all drawn or created artwork on 11x14” size paper. Art and office supply stores always have this size paper on hand. The posters should photographed and emailed to cthomas@asfdn.org.

Each afterschool program may (and should!) submit multiple entries.

Posters should reflect the Lights on Afterschool theme, celebrating afterschool programs and their impact.

Do not submit posters with violent, inappropriate, or offensive content. Keep it positive and family-friendly.

Posters may be drawn, painted, or created using any traditional, flat media (markers, crayons, paint, colored pencils, etc.).

Include your name, age, and afterschool program clearly on the poster or submission email.

All entries must be submitted by October 23. Late entries cannot be accepted.

Posters may be shared by the American Savings Foundation to promote afterschool programs and celebrate participants.

If your artists include the phrase “Lights On Afterschool” in their designs, make sure “afterschool” is written as one word, consistent with the national branding of the celebration.

We can’t wait to see your artwork and celebrate all the amazing things happening in New Britain’s afterschool programs!
