As most of of our colleagues and neighbors know, American Savings Foundation is a permanent, independent foundation, dedicated to investing in the communities we serve, now and for generations to come. We do this by providing grants to local nonprofit organizations, and scholarships for college and career training for local area students.
As a perpetual endowment, the American Savings Foundation is governed by a board of ddirectors who are charged with safeguarding and advancing this mission. To help us meet this charge, now and into the future, the board of directors of American Savings Foundation is extremely proud to announce the election of four community members to serve on our board.
Melvin J. Kelley IV is an associate professor of Law and Business at Northeastern University. He was previously an assistant professor of law at Villanova University. Before transitioning to academia, Melvin held professional positions with the Connecticut Fair Housing Center and the American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut. He earned received a BA from the College of the Holy Cross and JD with honors from Columbia Law School. Originally from New Britain, Melvin is a past American Savings Foundation Scholar and currently serves on the Foundation’s Scholarship Committee.
