Our roots are in New Britain, Connecticut, the city where American Savings Bank originated and which it served for over 140 years. The Foundation takes a leadership role in the City of New Britain, which continues to be the Foundation’s primary area of focus.
When American Savings Bank acquired Waterbury-based American Bank of Connecticut, the Foundation adopted the combined service area of these two historic institutions. The Foundation plays a supporting role in the City of Waterbury, which continues to be an important secondary area of focus for the Foundation.
The Foundation continues to invest in the towns that make up our historic 64-town service area in Connecticut. The Foundation responds to need in these communities, primarily through our Community Grants program and the American Savings Foundation Scholarship Program.
