New Britain, CT – New Britain Youth Prevention and American Savings Foundation hosted this year’s annual Lights On Afterschool “Show Us Your Spark” Video Contest.  This year’s video contest celebrated the National Lights On Afterschool event that calls attention to the importance of afterschool programs for children, families, and communities in the United States. The "Show Us Your Spark" Video Contest aimed to hear how afterschool programs have positively impacted students, families, and communities throughout New Britain..

“We were thrilled to see so many creative videos from agencies all across New Britain,” said Mallory Deprey, Community Services Program Manage for the City of New Britain “The youth in the city used their voice to tell us how important their after-school program is to them.”

The most creative program videos won a $500 grant from American Savings Foundation to support their afterschool programs.

“American Savings Foundation is one of the largest funders for afterschool programs in New Britain, with a major focus on high-quality programs for middle school youth,” said Maria Falvo, President of American Savings Foundation.  “These special grant awards will allow the afterschool programs to add something special to their programs, as a prize of the great work the students did in crating these videos”
