Foundation Welcomes Two Program Officers to Grants Team

New Britain, Conn. – American Savings Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of two new team members: James Williams, program officer – grants & communications, and Camille Thomas, program officer – grants & after school. The announcement was made by Maria Falvo, president & CEO of the Foundation.

“I’m honored to step into this role and build on the strong relationships and thoughtful grantmaking that define American Savings Foundation’s work,” said Williams. “I’m excited to support grantees who are creating opportunities for young people and strengthening communities. I look forward to listening, learning, and working in true partnership to move our work forward.”

“I am eager to assist the community that American Savings Foundation serves,” added Thomas. “American Savings Foundation’s values and mission align with what I am most passionate about; community engagement, enhancing communities, and enriching the lives of others.”

Mr. Williams brings over a decade of experience in grants management. Most recently, he served as grants manager at the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History. He has also held development roles at Habitat for Humanity North Central Connecticut, The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine, and the Children’s Museum in West Hartford. In addition to his professional experience, he is a passionate supporter and participant in the performing arts. He holds a bachelor of fine arts in Theatre from Central Connecticut State University and has spent more than 40 years on stage as a performer, director, and producer.

Ms. Thomas comes to the Foundation with seven years of experience in grants management through previous roles in municipal, nonprofit, and K–12 educational institutions in the Greater Hartford community. She has a strong track record as a public servant and community engager. Ms. Thomas holds a bachelor’s degree in allied health and a master’s degree in public administration, both from the University of Connecticut.

James and Camille join a dedicated team at American Savings Foundation, including Maria Falvo, president and CEO; Maria Sanchez, director of grantmaking & community investment; Heather Hokunson, senior program officer for scholarships; and Noreen Cannamela, senior manager of operations & finance.

American Savings Foundation is a permanent charitable endowment that provides grants to local nonprofit organizations and college scholarships to area students.
