Dear Colleagues, Friends & Neighbors

The Board of Directors and Staff of the American Savings Foundation are very proud to share that January 8, 2021 marks the 25th anniversary of the public launch of the American Savings Foundation.

Over the past 25 years, the American Savings Foundation awarded over $64 million in grants and scholarships in the 64 Connecticut towns we serve.

To kick off our Anniversary Year, today we are releasing our virtual 25th Anniversary Report. In this report, and throughout the year, we will highlight the stories of people and nonprofit organizations who inspired us over the past quarter-century. Especially during this challenging moment in time, we see this anniversary as an opportunity to highlight the amazing work of our nonprofit partners and celebrate the strength and resilience of the people they serve. We will also highlight the remarkable achievements of our Robert T. Kenney Scholars, past and present. We hope you will follow us on Facebook and on our website to read these stories in the coming months.

The American Savings Foundation is dedicated to strengthening the community by supporting education, human services, and the arts. A primary focus of our grants and scholarship programs has always been support for those at the greatest economic risk, which we know disproportionately includes individuals from communities of color. We recognize that the current Covid-19 crisis will have a profound impact on all the areas we fund. This anniversary is not only an opportunity to look back, but to look forward to our role in a world shaped and forever changed by the past year. These changes will bring new challenges, and without doubt, exciting new opportunities.

The founders of the American Savings Foundation created a legacy of help and hope. As a permanent, independent foundation, we will continue to honor this legacy in our community for the next 25 years, and for generations to come. That is our lasting commitment.
