American Savings Foundation Invests in Waterbury Youth Through Grant Awards

Waterbury, Conn. – The American Savings Foundation Board of Directors recently awarded six grants totaling $143,500 to local nonprofits providing positive youth development programs both after school and during the school day in the Greater Waterbury area.

  • The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury received $45,000 for its Teen Club program, which helps adolescents build confidence and essential life skills in a safe, structured environment while encouraging school engagement, exploration of career pathways, and healthy decision‑making.
  • YMCA of Greater Waterbury received $41,500 for its Linking Academics to Life program, an after-school program focusing on college, career, and life after high school preparedness.
  • The Palace Theater received $10,000 for its afterschool Theater Arts Program, which introduces young people to the performing arts while supporting language arts and social studies learning and encouraging creative expression through storytelling, movement, and music.
  • The American Savings Foundation also announced grants to the following youth programs:
  • $10,000 to Arts for Learning Connecticut in support of their Higher Order Thinking Schools, a whole-school arts integration program that improves student engagement, enriches school culture, and expands teacher practice through culturally responsive Social and Emotional Learning.
  • $7,000 to the Connecticut Golf Foundation, which introduces students in grades K–5 to the game of golf during gym class while teaching teamwork, healthy habits, and core values.
  • $30,000 to Shakesperience to support its classroom-based theater arts programming, offering in-school, STEAM-focused workshops and performances that support students’ current curriculum.
