New Britain, CT – Pathways/Senderos Center received a $9,807 one-time capital grant from American Savings Foundation to bring much-needed technology upgrades to its youth programs. The funding will provide students with better access to academic support, career preparation, and digital learning tools.

“The Pathways/Senderos program provides a year-round home-away-from-home during the hours outside of school, where students can complete homework, develop leadership skills, and explore future careers,” said Maria Falvo, president and CEO of American Savings Foundation. “This grant will help upgrade the center’s technology to improve access to resources and tools the students use on a daily basis.”

In addition to laptops, the center will purchase a smartboard stand to create more interactive learning experiences for both small and large group activities. This will also enable staff to model and monitor technology use, ensuring that students receive the guidance they need to thrive in a digital learning environment.

“This investment in technology directly strengthens the academic foundation of the youth we serve,” says Heather Mills, executive director at Pathways/Senderos Center.  “With the right tools, we can empower students to stay on track in school, build digital literacy skills, and prepare for future educational and career opportunities.”

Since 1993, Pathways/Senderos Center has provided after-school programming for New Britain youth and their families. The program offers long-term support to prevent teen pregnancy while helping students stay on track academically and build self-sufficiency. The program’s seven integrated components are designed to give students the tools and confidence they need to graduate high school and succeed in the future.
