Title: Summer Youth Employment Intern
Location: New Britain
Dates: 6/30 - 8/15
Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Certain days may require extended work hours due to field trips or other activities taking place outside the regular work schedule. We will provide advance notice of any changes to the schedule.

Job Description:

The Summer Youth Employment Intern plays a key role in supporting the Pathways/Senderos Summer Youth Employment Program, which offers valuable career exploration, learning experiences, and work opportunities for 20 youth in New Britain. This program is designed to help participants develop essential career competencies, prepare for future employment, and enhance their readiness for college and careers.

The intern will work closely with the Youth Development Program Coordinator to manage the daily operations of the program. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing materials, including making copies and setting up PowerPoint presentations and videos.
  • Assisting in forming student-employee groups.
  • Helping individual student employees with resume writing, job applications, and other written tasks.
  • Supporting student employees with both group and individual projects as needed.
  • Monitoring and assisting during field trips and sessions with guest speakers.

Through these activities, the intern will contribute significantly to the professional development of the participants.

Career Experience:

The intern will work with adolescent students, gaining supervision experience under a supervisor. The role includes using office equipment, and helping the intern develop technical skills in a professional environment.

Suggested College Major: 

Individuals pursuing degrees in Education, Social Work, Business, Communication, or any field within the Liberal Arts are likely to find a strong alignment with this opportunity.
