Title: Communications & Community Engagement Intern
Location: Hartford
Dates: 6/2 - 8/29, schedule is flexible
Hours: 9 - 5 PM, flexible in the length of the internship and the number of hours each week. However, 35 hours is the maximum hours per week.

Job Description: 

LISC Connecticut is seeking a Communications and Community Engagement Intern to support our storytelling, outreach, and engagement efforts. The intern will play a critical role in amplifying LISC’s impact through content creation, social media, and resident-level interaction as part of our Community Engagement strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and executing communication strategies to highlight LISC’s work in affordable housing, economic development, and community engagement.
  • Create and curate content for newsletters, social media, and blog posts to showcase LISC programs, community partners, and success stories.
  • Support the documentation and promotion of LISC’s resident engagement initiatives, including interviews and storytelling with community members.
  • Work closely with the Community Engagement team to integrate resident perspectives into communications materials.
  • Help expand LISC’s digital reach and increase engagement with diverse stakeholders.
  • Participate in event planning and outreach efforts to strengthen community partnership

Career Experience:

The intern will gain experience in nonprofit communications, community engagement, development, content creation, storytelling. They will also learn strategies for engaging diverse communities, gaining exposure to mission-driven work.

This position is ideal for students majoring in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Policy, or related fields. It suits those interested in nonprofit communications, community engagement, or advocacy careers.

Applicant Requirements: 

  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Experience with social media platforms
  • Basic graphic design or video editing skills preferred
  • Interest in resident engagement
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
