New Britain
The Boys & Girls Club (Club) of New Britain has been a safe and welcoming place for youth in the New Britain community for over 130 years! Originally established as a center for sports and recreational activities, the Club now serves over 900 youth annually through diverse programs, including swimming lessons, summer camps, after-school activities, and community service initiatives.
After-school programming has long been a cornerstone of the Club's mission. By offering year-round opportunities, the Club provides youth in New Britain with a safe, fun, and positive environment to stay active and engaged. Since 2021, the Club’s high-quality service delivery has been recognized through grant support from American Savings Foundation for its Getting Active After School (GAAS) program. This program focuses on the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of middle-grade students, serving over 250 annually. Enrichment activities include homework labs, financial literacy, digital skills, fitness, nutrition and cooking, music, dance, and seasonal activities, all designed to help youth excel. both in and out of school.

$70,000
One of the new vans purchased by Boys & Girls Club of New Britain, made possible by a capital grant made by American Savings Foundation.
Boys and Girls Club of New Britain was also a recipient of a capital grant in 2022. The Clubs aging vans posed transportation challenges, making it difficult to ensure all members can access the diverse opportunities the Club offers. To support program delivery, American Savings Foundation awarded a capital grant to Boys & Girls Club of New Britain for the purchase of two new vans.
The new vans will play a vital role in the Club’s programming. They’ll help transport members to sports events, educational programs, cultural activities, and volunteer opportunities. They’ll also enable more members to experience the joys of Camp Schade, the Club’s newly renovated summer camp in Burlington, where youth can immerse themselves in outdoor adventures, team-building activities, and nature exploration—opportunities that many would not otherwise have.
By addressing transportation barriers, this one time capital grant ensures youth continue to have access to positive extracurricular activities and pathways to building brighter futures.
