Career Highlights:

  • Superintendent of Schools - Consolidated School District of New Britain - 1975 -1993.
  • Previously served as the Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Instruction and Testing. 
  • Coordinator of Psychological Services; and as a Classroom Teacher in Grades 2, 3 & 5.
  • Psychologist, Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Harvard University.
  • Faculty, Supervisor of Student Teachers, Boston College.

Community Service:  Currently, Dr. Gustin is an Emeritus Director at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, Trustee of the Maximillian E. & Marion O. Hoffman Foundation, and Trustee at Jerome Home in New Britain. She has previously served on the boards of directors and as a volunteer with the Alix W. Stanley Charitable Foundation, the Alliance for Youth, the Boy’s Club of New Britain, the Governor’s Partnership to Prevent Substance Abuse in the Workplace, New Britain General Hospital, New Britain Institute, the Walter Kenney Scholarship for Students, the William Tomasso Scholarship Committee, and the YWCA of New Britain.

Personal Note: Dr. Gustin endowed the Marie Gustin Nursing Excellence Lecture at the Hospital for Special Care Foundation in 2008, in honor of her parents, Susie and Charles Gustin, who in her words, “walked the path of life with courage and dignity, high principles and the spirit of generosity.”
