Title: Community Development & Marketing Intern
Dates: Start May/June for 9 Weeks
Hours: 7-hour work day to be determined with half hour lunch
The intern will assist YMCA membership, marketing and development staff in planning, managing and implementing fundraising, marketing and membership retention and operations.
Maintaining and developing YMCA image database, assisting with membership and development mailings, collecting imagery for YMCA storytelling strategies, interviewing selected members and participants identified through social media interactions for impact stories, auditing the website and identifying updates needed, capturing impact at YMCA special events through photos and interviews, assist with social media outreach/improvements, update flyers and marketing collateral as needed/based on skill level, work on a proposal for long-term interior and exterior signage improvement with budget.
Creating informational packets for event participants. Event execution on active on-site participation. Meeting with venues, sponsors and other parties to plan events and groups. Managing and monitoring social media for event groups, assisting with additional marketing initiatives to supporters, participants, media and the public. Develop and maintain relationships with prospective participants, donors and sponsors. Assist with data entry. Produce quantitative and qualitative reports to support further development of events. General clerical and administrative duties inlcuding: photocopying, faxing, filing and record keeping.
First-hand experience in non-profit operations and event management. Student will network and learn to communicate with a diverse variety of departments, fields and populations.
Effective communications, ability to manage multiple priorities or deadlines, experience with social media, reporting management, desktop publishing experience with adobe programs, effective delegation and volunteer management, communications including email marketing, social media, and effective writing.
