Scholarship Application 2008-2009

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Before you begin:

  1. You should have read the American Savings Foundation Scholars Information Page.
Please remember, you must be a resident of one of the 64 Connecticut towns served by
    American Savings Foundation to apply.

  2. You will need your SAR, which is the form you receive after you file your FAFSA. The FAFSA can be filed at www.fafsa.ed.gov (you will be leaving the ASF website). You will need information from your SAR, including your EFC, to fill out our application. Your estimated EFC and FAFSA application data, which can be printed from FAFSA on the Web, will be accepted by the Foundation until you receive your official SAR.

  3. The Short Essay portion of the online application is VERY IMPORTANT! Each essay should be about 300 words. This is your best opportunity to tell the selection committee about yourself.

  4. Before you begin the online application, you will be directed to three pages that you must print and submit as part of your attachments package. In order to be considered, you must complete both the online application and the attachments package prior to the submission deadline of March 31, 2008.

  5. High school seniors who live in either New Britain or Waterbury may also apply for the Robert T. Kenney Scholarship, which will recognize one senior from each city for their community service. For information about the Robert T. Kenney Scholarship, click here.

  6. The deadline for all application materials is March 31, 2008.
