Important Deadlines & Information
Renewal Applications for 2010-2011 will be available April 15, 2010 and due June 30, 2010.
REMEMBER to get Letter of Recommendation before you leave school in the spring! It must be from a professor, academic advisor, student group advisor, or other individual at your college who can tell us about your academic and/or community service accomplishments. Please ask the reviewer to refer to you by your college student ID number. The recommendation must be in a sealed envelope, signed across the seal by the professor, and submitted with the other required application materials. You do not need a special recommendation form.
If you are a current freshman who was awarded a 2-year scholarship in 2009, you are not required to fill out the entire renewal application. However, you are required to send us enrollment and financial information. All current recipients will receive an email in mid-April to clarify which procedures to follow. If you are not certain, please call Maria Falvo at 860.827.2572.
Spring Semester Payments
If your award is scheduled to be paid
in two installments, it is your responsibility to supply proof of your
continued matriculation at your college or university. You must mail us: 1) Your fall 2009 grade report and 2) enrollment verification (spring semester bill or course schedule) for spring 2010.
Printouts from your school website will be accepted.
If we do not receive confirmation
of your continued enrollment by March 1, 2010, the second installment
of your scholarship may be withdrawn. If you have changed schools in
the second semester resulting in a substantial change in financial need,
the amount of the second installment may be adjusted accordingly. If you have any questions about your scholarship award, or if there have
been any changes in your enrollment status, please call Maria Falvo at
(860) 827-2572.

Graduate Scholarship Information
The American Savings Foundation
awards a small number of graduate school scholarships only to students
who have received the American Savings Foundation scholarship in the past.
Priority is given to students pursuing a master's degree in education
or social service, and who are attending graduate school within the state
of Connecticut. Most graduate scholarships are awarded for one year only.
Graduate school applicants should use the renewal application.
