New Britain After-School Initiative
for Middle-School Youth

New Britain Youth Network

Mission Statement: Members of the New Britain Youth Network work collaboratively to ensure that every New Britain child has access to and participates in activities and services which exemplify best practices in positive youth development.

A key component of American Savings Foundation's After-School Initiative is our commitment to convene and support the New Britain Youth Network. The Network is is a volunteer, city-wide collaboration of youth-serving agencies who come together monthly to improve coordination and utilization of resources among after-school programs. The Network's ultimate goal is to have a positive impact on program quality across the city, and to help youth across the city of New Britain become successful adults. The Youth Network is facilitated by a consultant hired by the Foundation. The Foundation has also engaged The Consultation Center at Yale University to evaluate all aspects of the After-School Initiative, including the Network.

The Network has formed four task forces to take on key issues faced by agencies across the city of New Britain -- transportation, program quality, parental engagement and sustainability. Additional information about the work of the task forces will be posted here soon.
